DIY Organic Cleaning Solutions For Your Make Up Tools

If you take proper care of your body, make sure that you stay hydrated and you have morning and night-routines for the cleansing of your face, there should be no reason for acne break outs, right? Wrong! There is a very important step and if you are skipping it, your skin problems will never disappear. This essential for your healthy skin step is cleaning your make up tools.

Using make up brushes and sponges can truly improve the application of your make up, but did you know that you must clean them every week, or in the worst-case scenario at least once every two weeks? Don’t worry, when I found out about this I was really shocked, too. Despite that cleaning of make up gadgets may sound annoying, I can assure you that I have found a few really easy DIY solutions which can help you clean your make up tools quick and easy.

Coconut oil solution

Mix one tablespoon of coconut oil, one tablespoon of liquid hand soap and one tablespoon of a dishwashing soap in a bowl. Add a little water and your organic product should be ready for use. Grab your dirty brush and twirl it around in the paste-like solution. Make sure that every hair of the brush is covered in the oil. The next step is to rinse your brush under a running water. Make sure that the water is quite warm so that the oil is washed away. Let your brush to air dry and you can use it again in no time.

The wonders of witch-hazel

For this recipe you will need half a cup of witch-hazel, two tablespoons of castile soap, one tablespoon of olive oil, one cup of distiled water. Mix the ingredients in a jar or a spray bottle. This solutions works great for dipping your brushes or sponges in it or you can also spray them with it and wipe them after every use. You can be sure that this DIY cleaner for make up tools is wonderful and it will definitely improve your make up routine.

This can hardly be called a solution but you can definitely clean your brushes in no time with this product. When you are in a hurry wet your brush in a moderately warm water and squeeze a little baby shampoo in your palm. Twirl the brush to make sure that all the gunk and dirt is coming out. Rinse with a lukewarm water and repeat the shampooing and rinsing until you are satisfied with the results. Leave the brush on a paper towel and let it air dry. This is an easy and fast way to take care of the hygiene of your make up tools.

Get rid of all of the dirt

If you have a little more free time you can use the baby shampoo from the previous recipe or replace it with a castile soap and add a hydrogen peroxide to the recipe. Fill up a bowl with warm water, add a few drops of the shampoo or the liquid soap and a teaspoon of the hydrogen peroxide. Leave your brushes in the bowl with the solution for about 10 minutes and then swish them in the bowl to make sure that you are getting rid of all the dirt piled on the hairs of the brushes. Rinse the brushes with cool water and let them air dry.
